A Comforting Song

By News Apr 1, 2020 | 10:58 AM

There is only so much information that my brain can take in about the Covid 19 virus. Lots of information to digest every day and in some instances it’s changing hourly. So last night I chose to detach from television and find a quiet place to just chill. That place happened to be my bedroom. I decided to watch videos on my cell phone for entertainment.  I was hoping to find some uplifting motivational music or stories to take my mind off of the world outside, if for only 30 minutes. Eventually, I came across this video of a father and daughter singing the song “The Prayer”. Mat and Savanna Shaw are using their vocal duets to inspire millions with a message of hope and joy during the COVID-19 pandemic. I’ve heard this song many times, (Celine Dion and Andrea Bocelli duet this song beautifully) but this time I really listened to the lyrics. I found it very comforting. It starts like this, “I pray you’ll be our eyes. And watch us where we go. And help us to be wise. In times when we don’t know. Let this be our prayer. When we lose our way. Lead us to a place. Guide us with your grace. To a place where we’ll be safe.” This song will resonate for so many. It did for me. The sun will come out tomorrow. Be safe.
