Nebraska U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee confirmed Lincoln will receive a nearly $2.7 million federal transit grant from the US Department of Transportation.

The funding comes from the Low or No Emission (Low-No) Grant Program, which supports transit agencies in purchasing or leasing low- or no-emission buses and other transit vehicles that use advanced technologies such as battery electric and fuel-cell power to provide cleaner, more energy efficient transit service in communities across the country.

Lincoln will utilize the grant to improve and update its bus and bus infrastructure system in the city including the purchase of electric buses, charging stations, and other important infrastructure.
