Friday Feel Good Feature – Making A New Friend

By Austin Michael Sep 10, 2021 | 7:11 PM

I wanted to share my own experience this week. It’s about finding new friends and nice people.

I was looking to buy a used lawn mower on Facebook last weekend. I was contacted by a guy named Chuck who had one for sale. He asked if I had one to trade. I hadn’t expected that, but told him yes. However, it needs new wheels and there’s a couple other things that I don’t want to fix. He said to bring it anyway.

At his house, I told him that I was a bit sentimental about my old lawn mower and that it still runs great except for those little things I couldn’t fix. We talked and got to know each other bit, and then he gave me a bit of a discount on the mower he was selling for my old mower.

He fixes them up and re-sells them.  He made it clear that he’s not in the business or repairing lawn mowers for people. He doesn’t like the hassle of people continuously asking when it’ll be done.

So, I go my new used mower, left my old one with him and went home.

The next day, he contacted me to tell me he’d fixed my old mower up. He said he was listening when I said there was sentimental value. So, he thought he’d fix it up up and see if I wanted to trade the one I’d just bought back.

He didn’t have to do that. He broke his own rule. Just to be a super nice guy.
