A man was taken to the hospital Sunday night after fire broke out in his apartment near 40th and G Streets. LFR’s Nancy Crist says they received reports that a man was inside the apartment and was unable to walk out on his own due to previous health conditions.
She says they were able to rescue the man and get him out. The man was hospitalized with non life threatening injuries. Crist says unattended food left cooking on the stove caused the fire. “Burned a little bit above the stove, the cabinets and ceiling above, but really no extensive damage.
Investigators say damage is estimated at $25,000.
