Remember Short Round, the kid on Indiana Jones and the Temple Of Doom? He was a hit in that and then in The Goonies as Data. But after that, he only had a few tv roles and disappeared after 1997. His real name is Ke Huy Quan and he’s back! A couple of weeks ago, I saw a trailer on Youtube for a movie called “Everything Everywhere All At Once”. There was one guy I thought I recognized, but I just couldn’t place him. I thought it might have been Long Duk Dong, but decided it wasn’t and then I forgot about it……. until I came across an article titled “What Happened to Short Round”? Boom. So I pulled up the trailer for that new movie again and it all falls into place in my memory. You hear his voice and it’s all like “Of course that’s him Doctor Jones!” And he’s really good at martial arts now.
What’s he been doing the last 20 years? He graduated USC film school in 1999, was on a Taiwanese TV show for a while, and worked behind the camera in China. He came back to the US about a decade ago, but didn’t get back into acting until this movie
