Man takes too much supplement powder; dies from overdose.

Always read the label! Especially when putting things in your mouth. Thomas Manfield, a 29 year old personal trainer, ordered a jug of fitness supplement. It’s the kind that you can scoop out as much as you want. The package said to use 60 mg a day max. Because he didn’t pay attention, he scooped out 2 grams, or 2,000 mg.

There’s a condition called “caffeine intoxication”. It’s when you have too much caffeine. It actually happens more often than you think, especially with dietary supplements. Unfortunately for Thomas, he had a heart attack and died. More about Thomas’s story HERE.

Signs of a toxic amount of caffeine include dizziness, restlessness, insomnia, headache, chest pain, tremors, and even hallucinations, just to name some of them. The best thing to do if it happens is to get to a hospital where they may be able to help you by making you swallow charcoal.
