Lash Fary, the guy who puts the Oscar goodie bags together, says this year’s bag is worth about $139,000. The biggie is an all-inclusive stay at Turin Castle in Scotland. It includes private use of the entire 10-bedroom Castle for 2 guests for 3 nights, fully-inclusive butler service and dining, bagpiper welcome on arrival, private gin tasting, and fully-personalized concierge service. There’s also gold flake infused olive oil, a couple square feet of land in Scotland that comes with a Lord or Lady Title, and even a 20 dollar t-shirt.
There don’t seem to be as many wack-a doodle items like last year’s like intravenous vitamin infusions or compact disks that claimed they use sound waves instead of needles for acupuncture. Although there is an Art Lipo Body Enhancement package this year and an anti- aging serum.
Not every actor gets one. The bags are given to the 25 nominees for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Director. Presenters get goodie bags too, but they’re completely different and not worth as much.
Lash said they wanted the bags to mean more than just freebies, “This year’s nominee package is particularly meaningful as we pay tribute to a milestone anniversary and also celebrate the resilience of all involved after the challenges of the past two years. Despite perpetual bad news globally, it’s also an important form of self-preservation and self-care to carve out a little room for the fun, festive, and fabulous.”
