There’s another example of a whole bunch of employees up and quitting a restaurant. This time at an Applebees in Lawrence, Kansas. And this time they kind of had a good reason. One of the franchise executives sent an e-mail to someone stating that he thought it would be a good idea for the company to save money on gas by cutting how much new employees would get paid. That did not sit well with the regular wage workers as well as some of the management. Four managers, and 10 other employees immediately walked once they found out. One of them said they already felt underappreciated and understaffed.

The executive who made the suggestion was fired. Applebees, the corporation distanced themselves from him saying it was his opinion, not theirs.

One of the managers working when they walked out said, “I gave everyone in the restaurant free food. We didn’t even close the store.”
