The guitar that Kurt Cobain was playing in the “Smells Like Teen Spirit” video is going up for auction. It’s a 1969 blue Fender that they say was one of Kurt’s favorites. It comes with the original case and the original strap. The auction house that will be selling it says that a conservative guess at home much it will sell for is around $800,000. The one he used in MTV’s unplugged sold for $6 million. They will also be auctioning off a painting the Kurt did of Michael Jackson and his 1965 Dodge Dart which they expect to sell for around half a million dollars. And a skateboard, that’s broken and missing wheels, that Kurt drew some art work on is expected to sell for $40k. A portion of the proceeds will go to a mental health charity. The auction is May 20- 22nd through Julien’s Auctions.
