Hundreds Of Ecstasy Pills Found In Seward County Traffic Arrest

Two people from out-of-state are behind bars in Seward County after a traffic stop on Thursday, April 14th around 11 p.m.

A K-9 handler with the Seward County HSI CITF-W Task Force saw a vehicle on I-80 near mile marker 388 make a number of traffic violations. The vehicle stopped and two people, a male driver and a female passenger got out and ran.

The female passenger, 23 year old Destiny Burnett soon returned to the officer.

Seward County Sheriff’s deputies and the Nebraska State Patrol arrived on the scene and the search continued for the male driver. After two hours, 33 year old Steven Townsend crawled out of a culvert from underneath I-80 and turned himself in. He was taken to a local hospital to be treated for non-life threatening injuries as he had been cold water in the culvert for an extended period of time.

A search of the vehicle turned up hundreds of ecstasy pills.

Burnett, from Hope Mills, North Carolina was booked for Possession with the Intent to Deliver Ecstasy, Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, and Obstructing a Police Officer.

Townsend, from Hollywood, South Carolina was booked for Possession with the Intent to Deliver Ecstasy, Possession of a Schedule 1 Controlled Substance, and Obstructing a Police Officer. Townsend also has four active warrants in three different states.
