Cary Elwes, star of “The Princess Bride” got bit by a rattlesnake Saturday. He posted a picture of his hand yesterday. It looks like the snake bit his middle finger and it is meeeesssssed up. The top half of the finger and nail are all black and bloated and deformed. I’m not sure exactly what led to the bite. All I could find was that he was working outside his home in Malibu. I’m guessing some gardening or something under the house where he reached in where the snake was hiding. He’s better after spending a day in the hospital. Although, after seeing that finger, I’m surprised he was able to hold a phone and send out a Tweet about it.
I mentioned this story on my personal Facebook page last night and made the joke, “Don’t worry. He’s only mostly dead.” No one got the reference. No one! And almost all my friends on my personal Facebook page went to high school the same time I did……. The time that “The Princess Bride” came out.
Oh, one other thing that Cary recently revealed is that in “The Princess Bride” where the bad guy knocks him on the head with the hilt of a sword and Cary goes unconscious………. That was real. Christopher Guest tagged him too hard and Cary was actually knocked out. He said he woke up in the emergency room with his costume on.
