Are you planning a summer vacation? A new poll of 2,000 Americans found that most feel their summer has been wasted if they don’t travel. 58% are planning on going somewhere. Part of the poll was designed to find out the difference between how adults vacation today versus when they were kids. Most of the people taking the poll said they averaged 4 vacations a year when they were kids.

Those must have been the rich kids. My family had one a year. It was usually summer and usually to Denver or Mount Rushmore. And it wasn’t unusual to sleep in the car or van at a rest stop. And if we did get a motel room, dinner was usually Ramen that was cooked in a Fry Daddy plugged into the wall.

The report says that the study also showed that 63% of them are more interested in staycations this year than they were a few years ago. Many also said that they were planning on staying within their home state……… which I consider a staycation. Anything in state is home field. Outside of state is traveling somewhere for a vacation.
