I’ve got your weekend food homework for you; Pepsi infused pepperoni. There’s a restaurant in New York that teamed up with Pepsi for a promotion where the pizzas will have pepperoni that’s been soaking in Pepsi. They’re calling them Pepsi-Roni Pizzas. It all started when they did a survey asking if people felt Pepsi went well with Pizza. 90% said yes. So, somehow that led to soaking slices of meat in soda.
They didn’t say how long they took to make them “infused”. Wouldn’t pepperoni dissolve into the Pepsi if it lasted longer than a few hours? Pepperoni is a lot of salt and fat and spices. Pepsi is acidic on top of that. You’d think it’d be like watching an Alka Seltzer. Anyway, it supposedly gave the pepperoni a more tangy flavor.
I found a lot of recipes for chicken that use Pepsi in them. Here’s one of the better looking ones. It mixes Pepsi with ketchup.
