Change Alexa’s voice to voice of dead relatives. Vid of demonstration in blog.

Amazon is working on a new feature for Alexa that will replace the female voice that’s familiar to all of us with one of your dead relative’s voices. Apparently they only need a couple minutes of the person’s voice to create the new set up for you. They just started talking about it and said they’re still testing it. So, now word on when it’ll be available.

This comes shortly after that engineer from Google claimed there’s a sentient AI over there.

First, I’m in radio where we record everything. I can’t think of anyone who has lengthy recordings of relatives talking. Even if there were, hard no. I can totally see someone in the depths of depression become overly connected to the voice on Alexa and not healing or moving on normally. I can also see where this is going; video of dead relatives talking to you.

What about Alexa in vehicles? What it’s your deceased mother’s voice and it’s giving you GPS directions? That might get on your nerves. “Turn left here.” Okay, okay, I get it mom, stop babying me!
