There’s a study out that found dogs literally cry tears of joy when reunited with their owners.
After observing 18 different dogs, researchers found that when a dog was separated from its owner for seven full hours, the dog’s tear production increased by 10%. This ONLY occurred with their owners.
It’s believed that when a dog see its owner, the “love hormone” oxytocin increases in production which causes them to cry.
Awwwwweeeee.
The researchers only looked at tears of joy and didn’t test to see if dogs also cry when they experience negative emotions like sadness.
