When the time comes to leave your current employer, make sure you know what to DELETE from your work computer and phone.
Here’s what’s recommended to delete . . .
- Personal files, like photos and tax documents. Back up to the cloud, or on a personal device before deleting.
- Your browser history. No doubt we use work computers/phones for personal use. Make sure you wipe your Internet searches. (Especially the R-rated ones 😅.)
- Any personal apps, software, or browser extensions. Someone else will eventually get your device. So the most important ones to delete or log out of involve finances, like Venmo and bank apps.
- Texting apps, like “Messages” and Google Hangouts. The water cooler talk can get spicy, especially if you’ve been texting friends during work, or talking about your boss behind their back. Delete.
- Passwords. Wipe them all, and make sure you disconnect things like your iCloud account and Google Sync too.
