Lincoln Family Escapes Burning Home Tuesday Morning

By Tom Stanton Oct 18, 2022 | 11:18 AM

Lincoln firefighters had to deal with frigid temperatures as they battled a house fire near 27th and Sumner around 4:30 Tuesday morning. LFR Captain Nancy Crist says the fire started in a second floor bedroom and crews were able to contain the fire to that room.

She says the family of four managed to get out of the house safely.  “The cause was an electrical chord that was attached to a window AC unit.”   The fire caused about $50,000 in damage.  Firefighters were able to carry a dog to safety.  Several other family pets got out of the house on their own.

The Red Cross is helping the family relocate.
