A 28 year old man is accused of spraying orange paint on several businesses near 6th and P Street just before 9:00 Thursday night. Sergeant Chris Vollmer says Michael Daniels was found in the area and matched the description provided by the caller.
“Officers attempted to contact Daniels near 8th & R Street, but he fled on foot. Officers gave chase and took Daniels into custody near 9th & Q Street.” Vollmer says Daniels spit in the face of the officer transporting him to jail and spit on an additional sergeant as they tried to put a “spit sock” over his head.
Officers checked the area and found 11 businesses damaged by graffiti. “No specific designs or lettering was observed in the paint. The damage appeared consistent with a person spraying a wavy line onto doors, walls, and windows as they walked past,” Vollmer says.
Daniels was booked for assault with body fluid on an officer and cited and released for obstructing a peace officer, disturbing the peace, and 11 charges of criminal mischief.
