There’s a virtual reality headset that will kill you if you die in the game. Sounds like it’s out of a “Saw” movie. But, it was actually made by Palmer Luckey, the man who founded the virtual reality company Oculus. The head set has three explosive charges that are directly aimed of the wearer’s frontal lobe of the brain. Die in the game and they go off. In a post about why he did this, he mentioned being fascinated by people living their lives through avatars. He went on to talk about how, right now, there aren’t any consequences when you’re immersed in a game or a virtual world. So, now he’s created a death helmet. Palmer says that he hasn’t worked out the kinks that might make if go off accidentally. So, at the moment it’s just a piece of office art. Thank God.

There was a movie I think was called Dinosaur Island where criminals were put in a VR game. The game was set on an island full of dinosaurs that tried to eat them. If they got killed by a dinosaur, their real body was shocked to death. The last one living go to go free with prize money. And it was all broadcast live as a game show. It starred a pro wrestler and had laughably bad special effects.
