There was a Twitter poll to name the best city flag in North America. Lincoln won! It’s the 2022 Urban Life Signs North American City Flag Tournament. The whole thing was set up like a tournament. Lincoln ended up in the semifinals against Columbia and South Carolina with voting last Saturday through Monday. Lincoln got 55% of the vote. Lincoln’s flag is new. The design was picked in January of 2022. The previous flag had been around for 90 years.
Although, I’m not sure how we got entered into the contest. I contacted Jon Taylor, the Public Information Specialist for the City Of Lincoln. He told me that no one in the city government nominated our flag. I think the guy who is in charge of the contest picked flags he likes to compete.
