The City of Lincoln continues to clean up after Thursday’s snow storm. LTU says emergency snow routes, arterial, bus and school routes have been plowed and treated. Crews will continue patrolling throughout the day addressing any trouble spots as temperatures warm.
LTU Director Liz Elliot says the amount of snow Lincoln received was surprising, but they were ready for it. “We prepare for all scenarios. We have meetings with the National Weather Service, we meet internally, we watch all the forecasts that we have as well as some of our road sensors across town. So we were ready whether it was three inches or the ten inches we received.”
The snow emergency parking ban ended at 8:00 a.m. Friday. The residential parking ban remains in effect. That means parking is banned only on the odd side of residential streets. This will assist snowplow crews in clearing neighborhood streets faster and more efficiently. A residential parking ban applies to streets that are not emergency snow routes, arterials or bus routes or included in a snow removal district.
