Peanut butter is a liquid. That’s what the Transportation Security Administration has ruled. Peanut butter is a liquid. Therefore only 3.4 ounce or less can be brought on a plane. This has come to light after Patrick Neve, who is a professional podcaster, got pulled to the side by the TSA in Pittsburg last week. He, of course, took the news to the internet and is racking up a ton of views.
The TSA also considers chunky peanut butter a liquid. Why?
Their “liquids rule” states that if you can spill it, spray it, spread it, pump it, or pour it then it falls into the liquids category. I just had a mental image of trying to pump peanut butter through something like a soap dispenser and turning blue in the face trying it. Actually, Jif and Skippy both have squeezable peanut butter. Anyway, according to those rules, it looks like Cheese Whiz and Reddi Whip might get you in trouble too.
