Beware plugging your devices into charge stations like at airports.

The first thing I do when I’m waiting for a flight is plug my phone and e-book into the charging jacks. Apparently that’s dangerous now. The FBI is warning that hacker jerks have figured out ways to use those charging stations to put malware into your devices. And not just at the airport. They say you should avoid using them in malls, hotels, restaurants, and everywhere. I don’t know how they do this nor could I find any explanation of how they use USB ports to infect your device. I did see a note on the FCC site that some people give away infected cables as promotional gifts. Yes, just the cables can be infected. Also, some dirty birds also leave infected cables plugged in at ports just waiting for people to use them on their own devices

Instead of plugging into a charger with a USB jack, you should bring an adapter that plugs into electrical sockets and use those. Bring your own power source to charge off of. And never, ever, ever, choose “Share Data” if that pops up on your screen after plugging into a port.
