LFR crews responded to a house fire near 6th and ‘A’ Street around 3:30 Sunday afternoon. When firefighters got inside the smoke-filled house they found the fire in the kitchen.
LFR Public Information Officer MJ Lierman says crews were able put the fire out quickly and contain it to the kitchen. “A search of all 3 levels of the house was simultaneously completed, and the family’s dog was rescued from the basement,” Lierman says.
Damage was estimated to be around $75,000 Investigators say a burner on the stove was found to be on. Lierman says three people and two dogs were displaced. The Red Cross is helping to relocate the family.
No one was injured.
