New concrete ingredient, used diapers.

Would you buy a house that was partially made out of used diapers? Scientists in Japan washed, dried, and shredded used disposable diapers and combined them with cement, mortar, sand, gravel, and water in several different combinations. Then they let it cure for 28 days. After, the strength of each sample was tested. The scientists found that in the best working combination, the diapers could take the place of 10% of the sand normally used in build columns and beams in a small three story house. The study was initially done to see if it could help with low cost housing in Indonesia.

There’s an old quote about a certain kind of brick house that comes to mind. That said, couldn’t they also be used for insulation? How about pillow stuffing? I bet that’d be really soft, yet firm. If that created the most perfect feeling pillow in the world, would you sleep on one?
