The Lied Center for Performing Arts is urging fans of the Broadway musical Hamilton to purchase their tickets directly through them. Communications Manager Lauren Silverman Durban tells KLIN News says they have received several reports of people being scammed into paying hundreds of dollars for tickets.
“We’ve had people coming to us who have paid literally ten times the face value of what the tickets are.” She says tickets for the performance start at $59 and premium tickets are going for $200.
“When people are getting tickets through third party re-sellers, we can’t verify that they are real,” Silverman Durban says. “We can’t guarantee that when you show up there will be a seat waiting for you.” She is urging people to buy tickets directly from their box office or website.
Silverman Durban says you also need to use the Lied Center app to download your tickets. Using the app helps avoid third party scams. She says there are plenty of tickets available for the 16 shows that will run from August 2-13.
