A 15 year old was taken into custody after Lincoln Police spotted a stolen car in the parking lot of the U-Stop at 13th and South Streets around 4:00 Wednesday morning. The 2011 Hyundai Elantra had been reported stolen from the 1500 block of Sioux Street on August 5.
Sergeant Chris Vollmer says officers checked to see if anyone was inside the vehicle and saw a person run from the front of the store. “Officers gave chase and caught the male in an alley.” He says a small amount of marijuana and a tablet of suspected ecstasy was found on the teen.
“Pursuing officers further located a Bersa .380 handgun laying in the middle of the alley. The teen was taken to the Youth Assessment Center and referred for drug, weapon and theft charges.
