People got upset by Netflix cracking down on the password sharing. But, after they did it, subscriptions jumped up. Disney, who has been losing a lot of money this year must have taken a good look at that situation because, guess what, they plan on cracking down too. Bob Iger, the guy in charge of Disney said, “We’re actively exploring ways to address account sharing, And the best options for paying subscribers to share their accounts with friends and family.” Notice how he made that sound friendly too with the line about “best options to share with family”. That is the kind of diplomatic speech that made him a CEO. Of course, what he means, but only inferred is that it will be the best option that you pay for.
You can expect that to extend to the Hulu and ESPN+ streams as well.
Here’s what most people don’t realize. Disney already knows who’s sharing their passwords when they shouldn’t be. Iger said that they already have the tech to monitor everyone. So, after they begin the crackdown starting sometime in 2024, they’ll probably shut your service down if they see you sharing. That, or send the Mandalorian after you.
