The Capital Humane Society’s new Stransky Veterinary Clinic at 55th and ‘O’ Street is on scheduled to be completed in March of 2024. Executive Director Matt Madcharo says construction work is underway. “Some plumbing work has been done, and framing is going up right now.”
He says the the facility will be offering a variety services to pet owners regardless of income. “We’ll be offering preventative veterinary care, spay and neuter services at affordable prices.” Madcharo says their hope is more people will be able to get afford these services and prevent more pets from coming to the shelter.
He says they have seen a 33 percent increase in the number of dogs at their shelter since 2021. “A lot of people we think are kind of priced out of the market so to speak with being able to afford to go get their pet preventative care and get them spayed or neutered,” Madcharo says. “This is our way of doing that and making it accessible and affordable.”
