Sony pictures announced that they’re looking for a new kid to play a Karate Kid in another movie in the franchise. Anyone can submit at the website karatekidcasting.com. Whoever gets picked will be in the movie with Ralph Macchio and Jackie Chan.
Remember that Karate Kid remake that Jackie did with Will Smith’s son? They’re apparently merging the 2 worlds into one movie that’ll be out in December of 2024.
The site says they’re looking for someone 15 to 17 and can speak conversational Mandarin. Acting experience is not required. But……… that whole speaking Mandarin thing. I tried to learn how to speak Mandarin once. I checked out audio lessons on CD from the library and listened in my car whenever I was driving around. That lasted about 3 weeks. It’s one of the hardest languages in the world to learn. I can’t remember a single word. I think it’s because my brain has shut out the trauma of trying.
