A video news service where you can pick what your newsperson looks and sounds like. You also have options for its personality, the language it speaks, and even what its voice sounds like. I say “it” because the news person isn’t a real person. It’s an A.I.
The news is real, or so they say over and over in the promo for Channel 1 news service. They constantly give reassurances that their news is from trusted sources and fact checked and so on. If they go through that much real trouble with humans double checking, why not just use real humans to write and deliver the news?
The anchors look kind of real. There are stiff movements and sometimes I’d swear the head would turn a little but the mouth wouldn’t turn with the face, which was creepy. There are odd pauses when they talk every now and then, kind of like when a robot has a glitch. To me, the weirdest thing is every A.I. avatar’s unnaturally smooth skin. It’s like watching people made out of some kind of porcelain rubber mixture try to discuss serious topics. I just can’t.
It’s all about personalizing the news, including what stories you do and don’t see. The only thing it lacks is a soul.
