This video came 19 million miles from outer space. Of course, it had to be a cat video. Watch here.

Everyone loves internet cat videos, right? What about an intergalactic cat video? Here is a cat video that was sent from 19 million miles away in outer space.

NASA did it to test a new way of sending communications through space. They sent a craft 19 million miles out. I’m assuming it went with a DVD player, because it takes a long time to go that far. Anyway, once it hit that 19 million mile mark, it zapped a special laser on a type of bandwidth that gets back to us faster than anything else up to this point. Less than 2 minutes later, screens at Palomar Observatory lit up with video of a chunky orange cat chasing a laser around a couch.

It’s pretty good quality video too. None of that black and white, low frame rate junk we got back in the 60s and 70s. 19 million miles out is 9 times farther than the distance to the moon. And it only took 101 seconds.
