A wildlife Center in Richmond, Virginia rescued a baby red fox. An obstacle for rescuing baby animals is that they can become too used to humans and can’t make it in the wild. To overcome that, the caretakers wore a red fox mask as they bottle fed the baby.
It looks a lot like a wild red fox. If you tried to feed a human baby while wearing it, they’d learn to walk then run away real fast. But for the baby fox, it was very comforting.
When they found the little fox, she was dehydrated with no teeth. They’re born without teeth. It wasn’t like she got into a fight with Mike Tyson in the woods. Another thing they do is minimize any human sounds, handling, and visual cues. It looks like they’re determining if it would be best to fit her in with a group of other foxes that are the same age. Whatever they do, I hope she gets well and it turns out okay.
