A 19-year-old motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash at 33rd and Nebraska Parkway around 5:30 Thursday evening. LPD Public Information Manager Erika Thomas tells KLIN News a mini-van was westbound on Nebraska Parkway and was attempting to make a left turn on a flashing yellow arrow.
She says the eastbound motorcycle rider slammed into the passenger side of the van. “We did have an off-duty police officer who witnessed the crash and did help provide medical support to the motorcycle driver prior to LFR’s arrival,” Thomas says.
“We give a lot of credit to her for being able to do what she could to help.” The motorcycle rider was taken to the hospital in critical condition. Police say the van driver went to the hospital with minor injuries. The investigation is continuing and so far no citations have been issued.
