A man who was struck by a semi while walking down the middle of I-80 in NW Lincoln has died. Lancaster County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Ben Houchin says 25-year-old Bryan Martinez was struck around 5:30 Saturday morning and died Monday night.
“We do believe Martinez was under the influence of alcohol. We are still waiting on toxicology reports to come back,” Houchin says. “He did run out of gas or had car problems. That was the reason he was out there.”
Houchin says Martinez had been drinking in Omaha and was on his way back to Lincoln when his car broke down. He says alcohol bottles were found in the vehicle. The 62 year-old woman driving the semi won’t be cited.
