Jenny and I were at a silent auction fund raiser last night. I was hoping to score a winning bid on a 5 day stay at a private villa in Italy. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the $6,000 in order to win it. A new grill, fridge, or skybox at a Huskers game would have been awesome too, but I didn’t have the hundreds of dollars to get them.
However, I still feel like I got the best item of the bunch. I had the winning bid for ride along on a Lincoln fire truck!
Jenny had brought my attention to it on the display table. At first glance, it looked like a basket with a smoke alarm and a few other goodies. It wasn’t until you read the certificate behind everything that you realized the ride was part of the prize. I saw Jenny’s eyes light up and knew it was the crown jewel of the night.
And as a forewarning to the Lincoln Fire Fighters who’ll be driving; passengers will probably include a stuffed monkey and turtle. They’re Turtle Liz and Jen Monkey. Jenny has a charity run every year named after them. They also have their own calendar every year with proceeds going to charity. Turtle Liz and Jen Monkey have had pictures with multiple Governors, famous sports figures, and celebrities. They were also featured in a photo art exhibit with proceeds going to charity. Be prepared for them to jump into your arms for picture opps. As you can see here, they’ve already hit up our friends in blue.
