Dr. Derrick Joel has been named as the next Superintendent of Norris School District 160. Dr. Joel will replace Dr. Brian Maschmann, who served the Norris School District for 14 years as both Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent.
He will become the next administrator of Educational Service Unit 6, which serves Lancaster and four other counties. Dr. Joel says he is excited to continue working alongside Norris’ talented educators, staff, parents, and community partners to build on the district’s strengths, address challenges, and achieve a shared vision for the future.
He has served as the assistant superintendent for the past two years. Dr. Joel’s wife, Kari, is one of the high school counselors and his father is Dr. Steve Joel, who retired as LPS’s superintendent in 2022.
