The development committee for Lincoln’s forthcoming Downtown Convention Center — Assemble Lincoln — is welcoming input from the public at an open house and information session set for tonight, Tuesday (June 18) from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Lincoln High School, located at 2229 J Street.

This event provides an opportunity for the public to learn more about the nine sites that are being evaluated as possible convention center locations, provide clarity on the site selection process and gather valuable input on the community’s priorities and concerns throughout the decision making process.

“This has to be a community facility that people embrace, so it’s a good opportunity to come out and learn more,” said Jeff Maul, Assemble Lincoln member and Executive Director of Visit Lincoln. “I feel we have nine really good sites for consideration. All will certainly trigger future developments in the downtown area.”

Representatives from the architecture teams of Populous and Clark & Enersen will be on hand to discuss the convention center project, as will representatives from Assemble Lincoln, Downtown Lincoln Association, Visit Lincoln and Legends.

The agenda for the evening is as follows:

  • 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. – Networking opportunity to connect with fellow community members and project stakeholders.
  • 5:30 – 6:00 p.m. – Presentation on the Site Selection Process Overview. Learn about the criteria and considerations guiding the evaluation of potential sites for the convention center.
  • 6:00 – 7:00 p.m. – Community Interactive Session & Open House Discussion. Engage in open dialogue with Assemble Lincoln representatives, share your thoughts and provide feedback on the site selection process.

Refreshments and art activities for children will be provided, to ensure this is a family-friendly event where all are welcome. For more information, visit assemblelincoln.com.
