Annoyance is the mother of invention.

It’s a product we didn’t realize we needed. A group of engineering students at John Hopkins got tired of the noisy leaf blowers on campus. So, they invented a module that works sort of like a silencer on a gun. It cuts the noise from a leaf blower by 37%.

I especially love that they did it because they were annoyed. I can hear them in my head, “Oh, I hate those leaf blowers soooo much.” Then a friend says, “It is what it is. Finish your beer.” Then the first guy is like, “I’m not taking it anymore. To the lab!!!” Then I imagine there was some kind of montage sequence like in an 80s movie with a Survivor song is playing in the background.

Anyway, they’ll probably make millions now. Seriously. They already expect companies to start selling them to places like home owner associations that have noise regulations and other places like that. And maybe to the growing consumer base of hitmen who use leaf blowers.
