Scientists have almost figured out a couple of new ways to soak up a lot of the sugar that you eat. One of them involves taking something like a candy bar and adding an enzyme that plants use to build their stalks. It would activate once it hits your intestines and then start turning sugar into fiber. That way, you can enjoy the full flavor without cutting the amount of sugar in the food. They think it can remove 30% or more of the sugar. Right now though, it’s 100 times more expensive than the sugar itself.
Or, you can fill your stomach with tiny sponges. For real. There’s a drink mix that is available now called Monch Monch. It’s a drink mix that literally has tiny fibrous sponges in it. Once they’re in your tummy, they swell up and soak up sugar. Then they leave through the exit. They’re saying clinical trials have not shown bloating or other issues. I guess, since we all have 7 credit cards worth of plastic floating in our blood, what’s a bunch of tiny sponges going to hurt?
I’m just including this video for reference. I don’t endorse or any of that other legal stuff this product or its makers, etc, etc.
