That $4k T Swift guitar was probably a fake.

A man in Texas paid $4,000 for a Taylor Swift guitar at a charity auction. Then he immediately took a hammer to it, destroying it. He was cheered on by the crowd as he did it.

Most people are saying, “How shocking!” However, watching the video, I noticed that the auctioneer already had a hammer in his hands that he handed to the guy who bought the guitar. I’m guessing that it wasn’t auctioned as “Get this Taylor Swift guitar”. I think it was auctioned as, “Here’s a Taylor Swift guitar. Who wants to pay a lot of money to smash it?”

Also, I’m not sure it was actually a guitar from Taylor Swift. It busted up like cheap plywood. The people running the auction claimed it was signed, but according to multiple news outlets, it was a fake guitar and fake autograph. Apparently, it had the wrong Eras Tour sticker on it and there isn’t a certificate of authenticity either even though the company running the action told TMZ that there was. They haven’t returned anyone’s calls asking about it today.

It’s starting to look like the joke’s on the guy who dropped 4k. The good news is that the money went to a student education fund.
