You ever jump in a pile of leaves? It still sounded kind of fun to me until I read an article a couple days ago talking about the DANGERS of leaf piles!!!!
The article warns about all the ticks, wasps, roaches, and millipedes that hide in the piles. Except for the ticks which can carry some pretty dangerous diseases, the rest aren’t that big of a deal. I also noticed that they forgot to mention spiders. I really, really don’t like spiders.
The article also talks about possible allergic reactions. That’s a solid concern for parents. Also, if the pile of leaves has been exposed to moisture or is old, there could be mold that can cause allergic issues.
But, if your kids are super hyped about playing in the piles, make sure to inspect the piles first, use bug spray, monitor your kids, check for bites, and wash up after.
And if it applies, make sure the kids aren’t smoking or welding in or near the leaf pile.
