Tavus, an AI research company has created an AI Santa that you can video chat with online. Once you’re at their site, it looks like you’re on a video chat with a very real looking Santa Claus. You will need a computer mic hooked up because it requires you to talk to him. However, when I visited, it looked like I was connected to Santa with video, but it didn’t actually let me interact for about 3 minutes after it came on screen. And when I talked to AI Santa, he was slow in responding. I had out boss in the studio while I was trying to make it work and I said something like, “This is really slow. You need to pick it up Santa.” And then he responded fast telling me that it wasn’t a very nice thing to say.
Speaking of, there’s a meter on the bottom of the screen that has “Naughty” on one side and “Nice” on the other. The meter moves one way or the the other depending on how the conversation goes. Mine went decidedly “Naughty”.
It’s free, but there does appear to be a time limit you can spend speaking with Santa.
There’s also an option that lets you build your own Santa according with a personality you want; completely unique. Or you can build upon of the pre-existing Santas like Sad Santa, Vacation Santa, and Mad Max Santa. However, it looks like you have to actually get into the code and adjust things to do it. They show you how, but it could be a little overwhelming if you’ve never done it before. Although, I’m sure you could grab any 10 year old and they’d know how.
