Google Maps have been a life saver for me in learning the Lincoln area, but I didn’t know all of these Google Maps tips.

Offline Maps:

You can download maps of specific areas to use when you don’t have an internet connection. This is particularly useful when traveling to remote locations or areas with poor network coverage. To do this, search for the location, tap on the location name at the bottom, and select “Download.”

Street View:

Street View allows you to explore places at ground level. You can virtually walk through streets, look around 360 degrees, and even enter some buildings. This feature is great for getting a feel of a place before visiting or for virtual sightseeing.

Custom Maps:

Google Maps lets you create custom maps where you can add personalized markers, lines, and shapes. This is useful for planning trips, marking favorite spots, or sharing specific routes with friends. You can access this feature through Google My Maps.

Real-Time Traffic Updates:

Google Maps provides real-time traffic data, helping you avoid congestion and find the fastest routes. It uses data from other users and sensors to give you up-to-date information on traffic conditions, accidents, and road closures.

Indoor Maps:

For large buildings like airports, malls, and museums, Google Maps offers indoor maps. These maps help you navigate inside these buildings, showing you the layout, floor levels, and important points of interest like restrooms, shops, and gates.

Location Sharing:

You can share your real-time location with friends and family, making it easier to meet up or let them know where you are. This feature can be accessed by tapping on your profile picture or initial, then selecting “Location sharing.”

Voice Commands:

Google Maps supports voice commands, allowing you to control the app hands-free. You can use commands like “Show traffic,” “Navigate to [destination],” or “What’s my ETA?” This is especially useful when driving.

Timeline Feature:

The Timeline feature lets you review your travel history, showing where you’ve been on specific dates. It can be a fun way to look back on past trips or track your daily commutes. You can access this by tapping on your profile picture or initial, then selecting “Your timeline.”

As always, I would love your recommendations for places, spaces and more. Send them to adam@b1073.com
