Woman seriously injured swimming with dolphins.

A woman was severely injured while at the dolphin excursion in Jamaica. This caught my attention because Jenny were doing the same thing with those same dolphins a few years back. The people offer 3 interactions. One is basically pet dolphins. Another is interact and let them pull you around a little. And the 3rd, which this woman did, let’s you do tricks with the dolphins.

At one point, two dolphins lift you up out of the water and kind of toss you a bit. She did it once with no problem, but she didn’t like the picture. The woman was allowed to do it again, but lost her balance and fell on a fin.

If you’ve never been around a dolphin, they’re hundreds of pounds of muscle. They ain’t soft. After hitting the fin, she noticed a large hematoma where she was injured. That’s broken blood vessels. Also, she has sickle cell anemia. Together those could lead to bad blood clots, embolism, and death. Luckily, they got her to a hospital and taken care of.

The best part is that the dolphins realized she’d been hurt, so they swam to her sides and did what they could to keep her from going under water. That makes me want to go back to Jamaica and personally thank those dolphins. Yes, that noble reason is the only reason I would like to go back even though I was there just last month.
