Pawnee City is paying people to move there; $50,000 to be exact. Their goal is to build 25 new homes and get some new blood into the town by helping with $50,000 down on the home. There are stipulations like not making more than certain amounts. For instance, if you want to move into a new 1 bedroom home, you have to make less than $69,450 per year. It goes up for bigger houses. And, to me, it looks like pretty much anyone can apply whether you’re working, retired, big family, or not.
They’re calling it Vision 2030. The website has plenty of pictures, info, and application at Pawnee City New Homes dot Com. They’ve even got a list of reasons to move there including easy access to cities like Lincoln which is actually about 90 minutes north. So, if you like super affordable housing, but a bit of a commute, this wouldn’t be a bad deal at all. Actually, it’s almost right in the middle between Lincoln and Kansas City. Here’s the link.
