13 Recurring Dreams and What They Really Mean

By Adam Winegarden Apr 14, 2025 | 10:13 AM

This morning, we talked about some of the most common Reoccurring Dreams.  Dreams are like encrypted messages from our subconscious, and today, we’re decoding some of the most common ones. Ready to dive in? Let’s go!

1. Teeth Falling Out

I feel lucky to say that this isn’t one that I have had before. But they say it is a classic nightmare. Dreaming about your teeth crumbling or falling out usually signals feelings of insecurity or loss. It might be time to check in on your self-esteem or stress levels.

2. Falling

That gut-wrenching drop into nothingness? It’s your brain’s way of expressing anxiety or a lack of control. If you’re feeling overwhelmed, this dream is your subconscious waving a red flag.

3. Partner Cheating

Waking up from this dream can be a real heart-pounder. But don’t worry, it’s more about your own insecurities than any real-life betrayal. Time to boost that self-confidence!

4. Being Pregnant

No, it doesn’t mean you’re actually expecting. Pregnancy dreams often symbolize new beginnings or creative projects. Got a new idea brewing? This dream’s giving you the green light!

5. Stuck in an Old Job

Dreaming about a job you left ages ago? It might be a sign that you’re feeling stuck or unfulfilled in your current situation. Maybe it’s time for a change?

6. Back in School

Whether it’s failing a test or getting lost in the hallways, this dream points to feelings of inadequacy or unpreparedness. Give yourself some credit—you’ve got this!

7. Being Chased

Few things are as terrifying as being hunted down in a dream. This usually means you’re avoiding a problem or responsibility. Face it head-on, and the dream might just disappear.

8. Dead Relative

Seeing a loved one who’s passed away can be both comforting and unsettling. It’s often about unresolved grief or the need for closure. There is no correct way to grieve, give yourself some grace on this one.

9. Unprepared for a Big Meeting

For me this always manifests as a theater production and I don’t know my lines. Standing in front of a crowd, completely unprepared? This dream screams performance anxiety. Remember, you’re more capable than you think!

10. Lost in a Maze

Feeling directionless or stuck in real life? This dream is your brain’s way of processing that frustration. Break down your challenges into smaller steps.

11. Phone Not Working

In today’s world, a malfunctioning phone in a dream can be super stressful. I am so dependent I carry two phones. This dream often signifies a fear of being disconnected or powerless. Check in on your stress levels and support system.

12. Can’t Scream

Needing to shout but finding your voice gone? This dream points to feeling powerless or unheard. Make sure you’re expressing yourself in your waking life.

13. Stuck in Quicksand

As a kid I was expecting there to be a lot more quicksand threat in my life, that and lava. However, it seems to be most prevalent in dreams. The more you struggle, the deeper you sink. This dream is a clear metaphor for feeling overwhelmed. Sometimes, taking a step back can help you find a new approach.

Dreams are fascinating windows into our subconscious. Next time you wake up from a wild one, take a moment to reflect on what it might be telling you.
