A bottle has been floating around in the ocean for 49 years recently found its way onto a beach on a small island in the Bahamas. That’s where Clint Buffington found it a few weeks ago. Inside was a message from a 14 year old boy from Massachusetts who was participating in an oceanography class in 1976.
Ah yes, 1976, when we still thought smoking was good for you, leaded gasoline was all the rage, and tossing junk in the ocean was okay. My mom had an ashtray in every room.
Anyway, they contacted the guy who wrote the message and………. he didn’t even remember doing it. Clint says he’s hoping to return the bottle in person.
Clint, by the way, does this sort of thing for fun. He’s gone to beaches all over the world just looking for unique stuff that’s washed up. And, he’s found over 100 bottles with messages in them.
