Move over Elon, China literally ran a humanoid robots in a half marathon last Saturday. It was during the Beijing half marathon where 10,000 humans ran. The robots ran alongside them, albeit on their own parallel track. But they ran the full 13.1 miles.
From what I could tell, it was a variety of different robots from different companies; small, big, some with fake human skin, and others that looked all robot. Some fell apart, but some made it all the way through. The winning robot, named Tiangong Ultra, took first place in the robot division with a time of 2 hours and 40 minutes………. Which would actually be pretty good for a guy like me. Probably better than a guy like me. But, it was far behind the winning human who finished at 1 hour and 11 minutes.
Have you seen the robot dogs that are being used for security? The FBI and Secret Service have some. I seem to remember they were used at Mar A Largo last summer. Disney dressed one up as a life sized Dart from How To Train Your Dragon in Orlando. It’s pretty amazing.
