Deadly snakes bite this man every day. He does it on purpose.

There’s a guy named Tim Friede who I was reading about today. ABC did a piece on him because his body is incredibly resistant to snake bite poisons and scientists have been studying him for over 20 years.

I saw the headline and thought, “Here we go. We’ve got a mutant! I want to know what other weird stuff he was born with.”

Unfortunately it’s not an X-Men situation. It’s another case of a guy doing something stupid and getting lucky. Tim used to raise snakes and milk the venom. He says it was a hobby……….. which doesn’t give off serial killer vibes at all. But wait, it gets better. Because he got bored and was curious, he began injecting small amounts of the venom into his blood. Then bigger doses. And eventually just started letting snakes bite him.

Hey Tim, want hit the town tonight? Nah. I’m just gonna stay in and let all these snakes bite me until I can sit in the same snake pit I keep my victims. Er, I mean my allergies are really acting up.

And now scientists watch snakes bite him and study his serial killer blood. He’s been bit by everything from rattlers to super deadly black mambas. He even posts YouTube Videos showing himself getting bit.

Hopefully, this will help come up with new anti-venoms and ways to synthesize them.
